The South Dakota Association of Quality Managers (SDAQM) is affiliated with the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) and the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations (SDAHO).

SDAQM members can include professionals in acute, managed, long-term, community and home health, mental health and ambulatory care settings as well as consultants and educators.  Membership is open to those individuals whose responsibilities and/or interest lie in functions of Quality Management, Utilization Management, Risk Management, Medical Staff services, Discharge Planning and/or related fields.  There is only one class of membership, active.  Active membership may be granted to an individual whose substantial responsibilities includes, but are not limited to, those mentioned above.

  SDAQM offers educational opportunities during our Annual Meeting which coincides with the SDAHO Annual  
  Convention.  When possible we also offer additional educational offerings throughout the year.

  The newsletter provides members with updates and articles of interest as well as upcoming programs.

SDAQM Objectives

  1. To establish a formal communication network for professionals throughout the state in order to share information of common interest.
  2. To provide a mechanism for supplying education opportunities that is specific to the unique needs of the membership of this state.
  3. To provide a support group for the individual members in their endeavors to meet the ever evolving and more complex requirements of their professional responsibilities.
  4. To create professional standards for hospitals for use as guidelines when developing standards of practice at the local level.
  5. To increase the perception of professionalism of Quality Managers within the state of South Dakota.
