What:  HIPE (Health in Partnership with Education) Week
When:  February 6-10, 2012
Purpose:  To encourage healthcare organizations to partner with schools to provide health career awareness activities in local communities.
How:  Visit www.healthcareers.sd.gov/HIPEWeek for activities.  
Featured Activity:  GSI: Germ Scene Investigation.  Students will learn how diseases spread through this interactive activity.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Office of Health Information Technology and Quality would like to announce these upcoming Webinars:
  • December 13, 2011: “Tips for Using Your Health IT System for Population Health Management”(Registration Open)
  • January 20. 2012: “Tips For Engaging Safety Net Patients Using Health IT” (Registration Open)
Topics and dates subject to change.

These webinars focus on health IT and quality topics based on feedback from HRSA grantees that includes becoming meaningful users of health IT. Any topic suggestions are welcome and can be sent to healthit@hrsa.gov
 
MDS and OASIS Migration to Verizon

South Dakota providers who submit MDS and/or OASIS assessments to CMS will transition from AT&T to Verizon between November 28 and December 28, 2011.  The migration schedule, installation guide, and frequently asked questions (FAQ) documents are located on the CMS welcome page.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Doug Knutson at 605-773-6203 or doug.knutson@state.sd.us.

 
Don’t Forget to Register for the CUSP Mid-Course Meeting in Sioux Falls

The November 16 meeting is targeted for team members currently participating in the CUSP (Comprehensive Unit-Based Safety Program) project but facilities interested in learning more about CUSP or quality and improvement of safety culture are also welcome to attend.  The agenda includes time to network, share information and discuss methods to eliminate barriers to facility progress. The meeting will be facilitated by Molly Federowicz, Senior Research Program Coordinator at Johns Hopkins University.  Additional information and registration is available at the SDAHO website
