| SDAHO is offering a pre-convention session on Wednesday, September 19th, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m., which will feature Pamela Moe, the Director, Beneficiary Protection/Patient Safety at the South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care. Pam will be leading a discussion on TeamSTEPPS, a process aimed at creating and sustaining a culture of safety. TeamSTEPPS was designed for health care professionals and is a powerful solution to improving patient safety within your organization. It includes an evidence-based teamwork system to improve communication and teamwork skills among health care professionals which is scientifically rooted in more than 20 years of research and lessons from the application of teamwork principles. TeamSTEPPS was developed by the Department of Defense’s Patient Safety Program in collaboration with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. TeamSTEPPS provides higher quality, safer patient care by producing highly effective medical teams that optimize the use of information, people and resources to achieve the best clinical outcomes for patients. By increasing team awareness and clarifying team roles and responsibilities, facilities experience enhanced conflict resolution and improved communication which helps to eliminate barriers to quality and safety. Come learn more about TeamSTEPPS and how you can utilize this process to help improve patient safety and quality in your facility. There is no additional registration fee to participate in this Pre-Convention program. |
